A different kind of cupcake...
So I always blog about how I love a nice glass of red wine with pretty much anything BUT I had a new discovery. Cupcake Vinyards! I was in the LCBO and saw this little beauty on the shelf and decided to give it a try. So delicious, extremely unique and it basically tastes like dessert. Its Californian and the one I tried was Red Velvet. So delicious, go to their website and check it out.

toes to nose
For all the dance and gymnastics I've done since I was a wee little one, I have never been extremely back bendy and I have never been able to touch my toes to my head! So in my adult years I am still determined to achieve this kind of flexibility. I took these photos yesterday...and I'm close... but still not there!!! So my current circus goal, is getting my toes to my nose, well I'd be happy with them touching my head.
And maybe eventually past my head to my shoulder, while balanced on my hands..
or maybe not. One step at a time folks.

First day of the rest of my life.
Had my last day and my restaurant job yesterday, can't believe it! Now I have time to do the things I have been putting off while juggling two jobs. Here's my short list;
1. Go to the AGO, yeah I live in Toronto and I've never been
2. Use the SPA certificate my girlfriends gave me back in August (I'm going this Tuesday!)
3. Finish a sewing project (got my beautiful machine for xmas but haven't completed anything)
4. Write everyday write everyday write everyday
5. Long walks (especially with this warm 'winter' I want to discover more of Toronto. I'm always in the west end but I want to find new coffee shops and secret boutiques to visit)
6. See more shows...of all kinds.
7. Keep in touch better (more calls, more emails)
8. Go see my grandparents in Collingwood (going soon)
8. Working on my own projects
10. Keep up my own circus training and don't let it slide while coaching
I can think of a million more things, but this is a good place to start. It awesome bar job to have, but now I have enough hours coaching and then performance gigs that pop up, so I'm totally set. And there is NO NEED to stress myself out with another job I don't actually need. Think I'm growing up, crazy.

Beauty.
Toronto....why are you so sunny and warm in February? It's so beautiful out and I was listening to this beautiful track today my friend Sara sent me. She keeps showing me the most beautiful pieces I want to create to. We're using this one for a new silks act we're creating together. I suggest, lay down and close your eyes for this one.

Family (every)day
Sipping on a double americano at The Tampered Press on this sunny, crisp Family day morning. It kinda seems like a silly Holiday until you really think about it. When I reallllllyyyy think about it...it makes me feel so lucky to have a kick ass family that has always believed in me and given me so much love and support. Not to mention my friends and boyfriend who are the best family a gal could have when she's away from 'home'. Enjoy your fam jams today- if you're not with them, make a call.
New and old shots that just make me think of family.

Playing catch up...
When you have beautiful and talented friends it's easy to get so busy that you don't have enough time for each other!!!! My best friend Laurel and I used to be roomies in University but since graduating we have been so busy that we haven't had time for a proper date night. SO finally over this past weekend we had the same night off and shared an early evening dinner with drinks at my place. As you must know already, I think its important to play a good hostess and put extra effort into the evening (especially when people trek to your house to see you). So here are simple ideas to make an laid back girls night a little more special :)
Bring out your best stuff! I used my grown up napkins, cute side plates, used my favourite candles and made water infused with cucumber and berries. Yumm. |
Laurel brought wine but I also got a tasty Elderflower Cider. one tall can split between two glasses on ice with some frozen fruit. Garnishing always makes things feel fancier and more fun. |
..Homemade guacamole! We used 3 ripe avocados, frech coriander, lime juice, tomoato and red onion for this flavourful homemade dip. So filling and so good (we also had some salsa, of course) |
Our dessert! |
When you haven't seen friends in a while I think its nice to make the night special in simple ways. You don't need to break the bank to create memories with your bestest girlfriends :).

Happy love day
I will never be too old for cute cards
chocolates and baking for two
revealing my heart
and saying I love you.
I will always love verses
that rhyme and are silly,
but are there to describe
how butterflies align in my belly
So this is my poem
lame and unrehearsed,
but made in the moment
when my heart's about to burst.
You know that I'm cheesy
I like Valentines and the works.
And maybe it makes you queazy
but hey, you know you love my quirks!
So everyone splash a little pink in your day
make heart shapes and phone calls
to anyone you love, and say;
Thanks for being you
don't hate on Valentine's
just promise to be true
Now lets kiss and drink wine!!!

Tulips for your troubles
I received the most beautiful bouquet of tulips from the incredibly talented and hard working performance team at Cirque Ability! I recently choreographed their aerial show EXPOSED that had two performance last night and as a gift they gave me these flowers. There were so many I put them in three smaller vases around my house.Such a thoughtful gesture and so nice to have bright tulips.
Thanks ladies, loved working with you.

Snack Bar
If you want a cute date night, a delicious Manhattan, live dj, unbelievable food and a great vibe...You have to check out 416 Snack Bar. I love a good Manhattan, but these guys even make they're own cherries for garnish. Such a great night, such a great place. PLEASE GO!

Inspiring weekend
What an exciting and inspiring weekend I had. There was teaching ad choreographing, girlie time, an aerial workshops showing, a movie date solo, dinner date and now time to blog.
Come see EXPOSED featuring the Performance Team at Cirque Ability. This is a kick ass group of gals who will blow your socks off with their aerial and dance skills. Working on this piece has been so much fun and I can't wait for these ladies to rock the house on Saturday.
PINA where have you been all my life!? I finally saw the movie Pina in 3d and I was blown away. I had a little date with myself and went all alone but it was the perfect way to see such a beautiful and passionate film. Watching women with gorgeous long hair all over the place wearing long dresses and dancing in the elements was so exciting. What a remarkable woman, and a remarkable film. A dancer must see!

And more Aerial Inspiration... I got to see Aer Time featuring new works in progress performed by Toronto Aerialists. There was some really unique and beautiful work happening and the set up of the whole event was all about the development of new work. Definitely a positive thing for the aerial community.
UTOPIA is a new favourite dinner spot of mine! Its my second time this month, but its a cosy little restaurant with yummy burritos, nachos, salads and burgers. Its nothing too fancy, but it's well priced with a small wine list and yummy beers and just a friendly good vibe all around. Check it out if you can, and you can split the burrito...just sayin :)
